Best Mizuno Running Shoes Performance Review

Best Mizuno Running Shoes

Athalonz is making their NovogasShops debut and I couldn’t be more excited to share. Athalonz has taken a more methodical and scientific approach to and Athalonz golfers have won 5 out of the last 6 World Long Drive events.

The Best Mizuno Running Shoes is a versatile, spikeless golf shoe that features top tier balance, traction, and fit.

The shoe focuses heavily on weight transfer which is why these World Long Drive participants can swing 150-180 mph and not slip.

I had the opportunity to chat with Athalonz to learn more, and you’re going to like the results. Let’s dive in.

Fit

Athalonz claims the Mana Mangrove Pro runs a bit large, so they encourage you to order a half size smaller than your typical golf shoes. According to Athalonz, the goal is to have your feet completely locked in, but not choked.

This was the case for me as I ordered the 11 and it was still a tad big on me. I normally wear an 11.5. There wasn’t any slippage, just some extra room in the shoe.

For our wide-footed readers, sizing down should be perfect. Those with more narrow feet can expect additional room within the shoe.

That being said, the extra room in the Best Mizuno Running Shoes was comfortable. I didn’t feel like my feet were floating within the shoe. The extra space gave me room to stretch my feet and toes inside the shoe.

I like the approach Athalonz took for the fit of the Mana Mangrove Pro, and I would recommend them to those with both narrow and wide feet.

Just make sure you order a half size smaller. Athalonz does offer a free exchange if you happen to order the wrong size, but it’s better to avoid that altogether.

Traction

Best Gifts for Runners.

I never noticed any slippage through my swing. Most of the World Long Drive contestants have club head speeds of 130+ mph. To swing that hard and not slip, you NEED good traction. I don’t swing nearly as hard. I’m routinely around 100-108 mph and I experienced solid traction on every shot.

With the extra room in the Best Mizuno Running Shoes, I assumed that we might lose some traction for comfort and fit. The “locked in but not choked” saying came into play here, and I felt additional room and comfort without losing traction.

I should also note that Athalonz told me to walk through the sprinklers to test how waterproof they were and the traction went down slightly, but not enough to complain. If you’re in a wet climate I’d still go with a spiked golf shoe, but if you prefer spikeless, the Mana Mangrove Pro will do just fine.

On Athalonz’ site they claim spike level traction with spikeless level comfort and I’ve concluded that this is indeed the case.

Best Mizuno Running Shoes midsole cushion

Cushion

Just like our last review of the FootJoy Tour Alpha Triple BOA, the Best Mizuno Running Shoes features an Ortholite insole. Ortholite doesn’t always equal top tier cushion, but whatever Ortholite insole was used on the Mana Mangrove Pro was very comfortable.

While Athalonz doesn’t list which Ortholite product was used, you should know that the Mana Mangrove Pro is one of the comfiest golf shoes I’ve worn. The Mana Mangrove Pro is equipped for on and off the course comfort underfoot. I honestly could wear these around my house as a slipper. They’re THAT comfortable.

If you have sensitive feet, the Best Mizuno Running Shoes will treat your feet well. I wore them to golf before work and kept them on throughout my workday and my feet felt great.

The Mana Mangrove Pro doesn’t trade cushion for performance. It gives you both.

Support

I’ve said it multiple times and I’ll say it again. You’re locked in but not choked when golfing in the Best Mizuno Running Shoes.

The Mana Mangrove Pro features a bouncy foam midsole which definitely helped with shock absorption and rebound. I honestly feel like I could’ve played basketball in it. The foam midsole and the Ortholite insole combine to give you solid performance on both the comfort and support side.

They focus heavily on weight transfer within the shoes throughout your swing and you can definitely feel the shift of weight during your swing. It’s pretty cool.

Price

The Best Mizuno Running Shoes is priced at $285 before tax.

This makes the Mana Mangrove Pro the most expensive shoe I’ve tested, and one of the most expensive golf shoes on the market. It’s worth noting that the shoe is made in the USA, but I’m not sure that completely makes up for the price tag.

The Mana Mangrove Pro is an amazing shoe…but is it worth $285?

To the golfer with wide and sensitive feet…absolutely. You’ll have comfort and performance every round without the worries of post-round foot pain. To all other golfers, it will perform well, but I would look for comfort and performance with a lesser price tag.

The Wrap on the Best Mizuno Running Shoes

The Best Mizuno Running Shoes is a definite sleeper pick when choosing your next golf shoe.

I give them a 10/10 for performance and feel and a 6.5/10 for price. Overall, the Best Mizuno Running Shoes receives an 8/10. It took very little time to break in and I immediately noticed the weight transfer and cushion that the Mana Mangrove Pro touts.

To my golfers on a budget, buy a golf shoe with high reviews that costs less (you can see our other reviews here). Save your money for clubs, balls, and tee times.

Price is the ONLY thing that would keep me from buying a second pair of the Mana Mangrove Pro.
