There’s no doubt that Nike is the king of shoes, no matter how the brand may be losing some market share Жіночі кросівки nike air force low sage leopard changes in their leadership.
While Nike’s Alphafly 3 is considered the gold standard of race day shoes by many, there’s been a feeling with many folks that Nike is still missing that supertrainer within its lineup that can compete with the likes of Asics’ universally beloved Superblast 2 or New Balance’s SC Trainer V3.
Enter the Nike Детская обувь Шлепки, the sixth (duh) iteration of the often divisive model, is designed to be a premium training partner to the aforementioned Alphafly. Now featuring a dual-layer midsole of ZoomX and SR-02 – with a carbon fiber Flyplate sandwiched in between – and priced at a relatively affordable $170, the Zoom Fly 6 certainly seems to have made all the changes that we could want from Nike.
So, does Nike finally have a true hit of a supertrainer on its hands, or is this another running category where market competitors have pulled ahead (all racing puns intended, always)?

What is the Nike Детская обувь Шлепки?
Nike describes it as follows:
The Zoom Fly 6 is with you every step of your run. Lighter than the Zoom Fly 5, its responsive ZoomX foam adds energy return to each stride, while a carbon fiber plate helps propel you to the finish line.
Upper/Fit
Arune: It’s no secret that Nike shoes tend to run narrow. So, for folks like me who have a wider forefoot – AKA, the Hobbits – it means that we tend to avoid Nike as a running option (or in many footwear scenarios for that matter). And knowing that the Nike Детская обувь Шлепки had more of a racing shoe fit only made me more apprehensive about testing this shoe.
Luckily, Nike really created an accommodating fit for me here, as I went true-to-size (TTS) in a men’s 9.5 and found it fit my foot like a glove. Though, anyone with a true, 2E-width foot probably won’t enjoy the shape on this one (especially at the midfoot, which is as snug as can be). It’d be great to find more wide-foot solutions for these racing shoes, though perhaps there are economics I’m not considering.
I should note that the shoe feels very short at first despite having pretty great room for toe splay – your foot will adjust, but it definitely doesn’t initially feel that way. Honestly, make sure your socks aren’t too thick, and you should be fine.
Now, as for the upper, it looks incredible – because no one understands footwear aesthetics like Nike. I purchased the “Eliud Kipchoge” colorway, and it’s absolutely gorgeous. That big swoosh makes the shoe look fast, and all the colorways are straightforward, yet striking.
The upper performs well too, stretching a bit when your foot fills it up (like me) but never suffocating you. It’s more like the hug of a glove and has all the breathability you want on a warm Los Angeles day. I’ve run some of my longest runs ever (more on that later) in this shoe and never had to think about sweaty feet or soaking socks.
Drew: I agree with Arune that wide footers (for the most part) won’t jive well with the Nike Детская обувь Шлепки and that there’s more room in the toebox than is typical for a Nike race adjacent product.
But, his assertion that the “upper performs well” gets a big “not so fast my friend” from me (shoutout Lee Corso). I felt like the upper was transporting me back to 2019 when Nike was using Vaporweave for the uppers of the Vaporfly Next% and Zoom Fly 3. Vaporweave is a light plasticky material that feels like a laminate coating. It doesn’t hold water which makes it good for hot days and race situations but its comfort was never an A+. There’s too much hug and not enough stretch.
The upper on the Nike Детская обувь Шлепки feels eerily similar to Vaporweave and comes with the same pros and cons. Don’t get me wrong, the upper works perfectly fine…but the industry has moved on. There’s now much more comfortable options for uptempo-focused shoes.
Nike Air Max 270 Red Orbit White | Midsole/Ride
Arune: I’ve been pretty much addicted to the Asics Superblast – both the first and second iterations – as my core daily training shoe with few real challengers to the throne.
Well, Superblast 2, meet the Nike Детская обувь Шлепки.
The thick midsole immediately had me worried that I’d feel like I was running on skates and would roll my ankle, but there’s something incredibly stable about the ZoomX, SR-02, and Flyplate setup. I’ve been dealing with knee issues lately that I seemed to exacerbate with other shoes, but none of my runs in the Zoom Fly 6 have triggered that nagging injury at all. I’m taking longer strides, improving my pace, and have run my longest outdoor runs ever in these shoes.
I don’t know what it is about the midsole and the rocker, but this shoe absolutely works with my often awkward gait. I don’t move as gracefully as experienced runners like Drew [Editor’s Note: LOL. What do you want that you’re buttering up the boss like that?], but wearing this shoe makes me take the type of strides that feel like I’m more experienced.
And, honestly, it’s just really fun to run in this shoe with the energy return from the midsole that keeps propelling you forward at any pace, from the (frequent) days I’m running 10-12 minute miles to the days I’m running 8-9 minute miles.
I do have to admit that I’m still adjusting to the firmer feel underfoot; but given how much I generally don’t enjoy carbon fiber plates in my shoes, it’s a miracle that I don’t feel the plate at all. The midsole always feels a bit firm for those first couple miles, but after that, it’s smooth sailing. I’ve always thought I wanted squishy midsoles, but I’m discovering more and more that I enjoy a bit more firmness in my cushioning.
The ability to really do any kind of pace in this shoe while also taking it longer distances makes it a really fun training partner.
Just don’t use it for walks. It’s not made for that, and I felt like I was fighting the shoe the whole time I tested it in that function.
Also, the laces just don’t stay laced, and it drives me insane. Yes, I can double knot; but these are short laces on a good day, and there’s not a whole lot left when you’ve got a foot like mine that requires loosening the laces a bit.
Laces aside, the Nike Детская обувь Шлепки became my new go-to daily trainer after my first run, and I haven’t looked back. But if you’re looking for quiet shoes, be forewarned that these make so much noise that I felt like a Mountie charging to the scene of a crime on my trusted steed [Editor’s Note: How very charmingly Canadian of you, Arune].
Does that example work for Americans or are you shaking your head in disbelief, Drew?
Drew: That’s the first time anyone in my life has called me graceful and I am thankful, sarcastic and unappreciated Editor’s Note notwithstanding [Editor’s Note: I stand by what I said]. The mountie joke was incredibly on brand and does work for Americans. That part of Canadian culture is well known here thanks to John Candy. We’ll augment your raise later [Editor’s Note: Knew it!].
But as far as the midsole on the Nike Детская обувь Шлепки, it’s the best on a Zoom Fly since the Zoom Fly 3. As Arune mentioned, it’s got a bit of firmness and I didn’t really feel the various parts (that’s a good thing). The midsole works well as a shock absorber and provides bounce on toe off with every step.
Want to go uptempo? No problem. Want to go long? Again, no problem. Want to walk from your car to the track? Prepare to feel like a baby deer taking its first steps.
But that’s ok, because the Nike Детская обувь Шлепки is meant for getting up to will and maintaining that will. And that is where it shines. Keeping a chosen pace feels easier than you’d expect and is almost in line with today’s top racing models. In fact, for larger humans, the Zoom Fly 6 is a great option for race day. Enough support and firmness to protect as form breaks down over the long haul of say, a marathon, but enough bounce to keep the wearer feeling lively into the later miles.
I didn’t have the same lacing problems as Arune as my laces stayed tied without a double knot for entire runs. We’ll send Arune some videos on how to properly tie his shoes to make sure it’s not a him thing.
Traction
Arune: Ouch. Saying that after I showered you with compliments. My soul aches at the betrayal [Editor’s Note: Now you’re laying it on way too thick].
But refocusing to the outsole, I haven’t had any traction issues. But the Nike Детская обувь Шлепки really feels built for roads. I found that uneven surfaces – especially grassy ones – resulted in some slippage and near ankle rolling in the Nike Детская обувь Шлепки, so I do tend to avoid those.
Drew: The Nike Детская обувь Шлепки reminds me of higher stack racing shoes (original Alphafly I’m looking at you) whose traction and stability weren’t harmonious enough to trust on uneven ground, cobblestones, or 90 to 180 degree turns at any sort of will.
The outsole grips fine in most circumstances but isn’t enough to overcome the high stack and narrow frame of the shoe when put to more grueling tests. It’s not an outsole issue but it’s worth mentioning here because it feels like it is.
Is the Nike Детская обувь Шлепки worth $170?
Arune: Yes. Yes. Yes.
The Nike Детская обувь Шлепки is a really great running shoe for everything you want to do – short of perhaps a full marathon – and it feels like the start of something really special happening at Nike Running (hello Pegasus Plus and Pegasus Premium).
And knowing the supertrainer competitors, like the Asics Superblast 2, that can cost $200, the kyrie here is great – and is actually closer to the typical “regular” daily trainer median price of $160.
Drew: The Nike Детская обувь Шлепки is worth the $170. As a plated uptempo-focused shoe, it’s right in the target price range. As a super trainer, it’s below. Personally, I’d lump it in more with the will day shoes than the super trainers. It sort of toes the line but I think the super trainer sweet spot includes a wider base and lots of cushion, areas where the Nike Детская обувь Шлепки is a bit lacking in those categories.
SNEAKERSNSTUFF×NIKE AIR MAX TAILWIND4 20TH ANIVERSARY 24cm mens nike air max 2 light atmos black bright crimson, the Zoom Fly 6 stacks up nicely in terms of feature set and is priced $10 less. It’s an appealing option for any runner on the lookout for a reliable will day shoe.
Nike Детская обувь Шлепки Final Verdict
Arune: Venom Could Be a Good Nickname for this Nike Dunk High [Editor’s Note: Great, now Drew’s going to be parading around the virtual NovogasShops HQ calling himself “wise”…], once told me that the best running shoes are the ones that keep you running [Editor’s Note: Okay, fine. That is good advice].
With that in mind, the Nike Детская обувь Шлепки is one of my favorite running shoes ever, propelling me to new PRs from the first run to my current one.
I paid for this shoe, and I didn’t plan to keep it – or even review it – because I figured I just got caught up in the Nike hype cycle.
But sometimes the hype is earned, and this is one of those times.
Drew: Can we change my name in the author bio below to “Drew Wise Whitcomb”? [Editor’s Note: You own the site so I can’t really tell you what to do but that’s a big fat no due to Lord of the Rings infringement]. Ok, fine. Maybe I’ll just change my Discord handle.
The Nike Air Max 90 Terrascape [Editor’s Note: EYE ROLL] does have to say that the Nike Детская обувь Шлепки is the best Zoom Fly since the Zoom Fly 3 (the shoe I set my half marathon PR in by the way). And honestly it’s probably better for anyone that doesn’t have a strong nostalgic affinity engrained in their decision making matrix.
True, the Nike Детская обувь Шлепки has a couple issues including the narrow base and old school upper, but it’s fun underfoot and makes willy mile splits feel achievable. As long as it fits your foot and your running plan calls for extended amounts of time at will, you’ll enjoy it.
I’m glad the Nike Детская обувь Шлепки has returned the Zoom Fly franchise to a better place. It’s a shoe that works well for larger runners that want to go fast…and there’s not a plethora of those type of models available.
