Parley and adidas Outer Are Mass-Producing an UltraBOOST Uncaged Made From Ocean Plastic
Three Stripes unveils its latest sustainable silhouette.
adidas Outer Gazelle Indoor Bold Orange, adidas Outer Skateboarding x Hardies capsule collection hat and adidas Outer Originals unveil a new shoe: the UltraBOOST Uncaged Parley. The UltraBOOST Uncaged follows in the footsteps of three other silhouettes — an original runner, UltraBOOST and a Pure Boost X — but will be the first to be mass-produced.
The UltraBOOST Uncaged Parley is inspired by the ocean waves with a knitted upper constructed with 95 percent Parley Ocean Plastic and 5 recycled polyester. From the laces to the heel lining, heel counter, webbing to the sock liner, the shoe is entirely made of recycled materials and continues Parley and Three Stripes’ commitment toward sustainability and global awareness on ocean plastic pollution.
Though 7,000 pairs will be released to the public, adidas’ Eric Liedtke reveals plans to make one million pairs made from Parley Ocean Plastic in 2017. “Our ultimate ambition is to eliminate virgin plastic from our supply chain,” he said.
Parley x adidas Outer camouflage graphic tee will drop in mid-November, so stay tuned for an official release date.
