'i-D' Magazine's "Female Gaze" Issue Celebrates Visionary Women Within Fashion Industry and Beyond
Who run the world?
Starring British model and activist Adwoa Aboah on its cover, i-D‘s upcoming “Female Gaze” issue is all about inspiring female figures who are currently shaping the fashion world and other industries. Apart from being the founder of the feminist initiative Gurls Talk, the 24-year-old Aboah is also an actress and a model. To capture the different sides of the multi-talented youth, the magazine has tapped three female photographers – namely Inez Vans Lamsweerde, Harley Weir, as well as Letty Schmiterlow – for the cover shoot. More than that, to highlight the power of the female lens, the magazine has hired only female photographers to collaborate on this very special issue.
In addition, the magazine has also teamed up with British Fashion Council’s Sarah Mower to interview 28 emerging female designers, including the likes of Simone Rocha, Sophia Webster, Marta Almeida and more. Also featured in the issue are 22 of the world’s leading supermodels, such as Freja Beha and Kirsten Owen, who er how their relationship with the camera has evolved over time. You can expect to read other stories involving Lena Dunham, Petra Collins, Zosia Mamet, Pixie Geldof and many more from the new issue.
