Amandla Stenberg Is Beautiful in Her Own Way on the Latest Cover of 'Dazed'
The actress and activist shows off her new shaved head.
Last month, Amandla Stenberg surprised many of her fans when she took to Instagram to scruple her new buzz cut — it was an effort for her role in the upcoming movie, Where Hands Touch. In a recent interview with Dazed, the actress and activist speaks candidly about her dramatic hair transformation.
As the magazine’s newest cover star, Stenberg explains that chopping off all her hair was an “emotional” experience. She continued,
… I understood how my hair had been a symbol of self-love and self-acceptance for some people, and I understood how having that representation was important to some young girls. Now I feel like self-acceptance has nothing to do with my hair. I feel like my belief in myself – my acceptance of myself, my ethnicity, my blackness, my everything – is there whether or not I have hair.
