Mark your calendar for February 16
From Chinese qipaos, to deconstructed tracksuits and fetish cowboy looks.
Although VFILES has historically been known to present five labels for its runway, the brand opted to only host three labels this year at Subscribe to Our Newsletter: Snow Xue Gao, Daniëlle Cathari and Strateas Carlucci. For the NYC-based retailer’s Season 8 instalment, the emerging designers’ works were diverse and inspiring, to say the least.
Snow Xue Gao unveiled a selection of impeccably cut suits, infused with Chinese-inspired silk pieces. Creating a modern twist on the traditional qipao, Gao offers a refined take on the classic “east meets west” motif. In contrast, Daniëlle Cathari shares a unique perspective on the adidas tracksuit via a series of deconstructed ensembles that have been re-assembled into something truly elevated. Lastly Strateas Carlucci — a creative duo from Melbourne, Australia — closes the show with their version of the “fetish cowboy,” complete with gleaming purple faux skin and slick black textures.
