Bella Hadid Opens Up About Fyre Festival Disaster: "I Feel So Sorry"

“This is something I couldn’t stand by.”

Organized by rapper Ja Rule and tech entrepreneur Billy McFarland, Fyre Festival was initially set to have its inaugural launch this weekend in the Bahamas. Promised to be “two transformative weekends” with “the best in food, art, music and adventure,” the festival saw ticket prices from $4,000 USD up to $12,000 USD – including a flight to Miami and private villas to stay in.

The venue was trashed with heaps of garbage, festival staff and security were almost absent, and guests were treated to barely any food, water and electricity. With the situation going out of hand, the festival was ultimately called off.

Bella Hadid, who’s among the lineup of It models that helped promote Fyre Festival on social media, now finally breaks her silence to address the scandal. The runway star writes on Twitter:

I initially trusted this would be an amazing [and] memorable experience for all of us, which is why I agreed to do one promotion … not knowing about the disaster that was to come … I feel so sorry and badly because this is something I couldn’t stand by, although of course if I would have known about the outcome, you would have all known too.
