Amid receiving backlash for throwing a fan’s phone
The photo-sharing app beat out Snapchat, Facebook and Twitter.
In a study conducted by the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH), Instagram is said to have “the most detrimental effect on young people’s health.” The survey studied 1,500 people between age 14 and 24, gauging their social media usage and mental well-being. Followed by Snapchat, Facebook and Twitter, Instagram was ranked number one in negatively affecting those predisposed to depression, insomnia and poor self-perception.
Despite Instagram’s recent push to protect its users, the results show that the damage is already done. The RSPH suggests implementing some protective measures to lessen its impact. It requested reproof symbols be put on photoshopped photos.
