Is the YEEZY-esque M2K Tekno a cop or drop?
Footwear retailers are capitalizing on the chunky and dad shoe trend that has swept the community. The trend began with Balenciaga’s Triple-S and has been embraced by the likes of Acne Studios, Gucci, Umbro and now Nike. Its new women’s-exclusive M2K Tekno, debuted at John Elliott’s Fall/Winter 2018 presentation gaining attention for its thick midsole and retro design. Buzz surrounding the sneaker exploded when Kanye West took to Twitter to call out Nike for the similarities between the Tekno and adidas’ YEEZY 700. Despite the shade, Nike has moved forward with debuting a new colorway of the runner that will release on May 19 for $100 USD.
Its leather cover is mostly black with neon “Phantom/Volt” detailing on its midsole and rear. The Swoosh logo is copied twice on the lateral in a tonal and royal hue. The iconic checked symbol is also seen in the footbed, and on the tongue tag, adding another level of Nike pride.
Take a closer look at the new colorway above and be sure to also check out the brand’s “Big Swoosh” tracksuit which would match perfectly.
