Facebook Just Jumped on the Dating App Bandwagon – Because Why Not?
Zuckerberg is at it again.
Between Bumble, Tinder and YEEZY.dating, the app specifically for Kanye fans, the online dating market is pretty much covered. However, if you’re still left lonely and unsatisfied after hours of endless swiping left and right, then maybe Facebook‘s new dating app will be more fruitful.
That’s right, Facebook is launching its very own dating app which is, rather aptly, named Facebook Dating. According to Cosmopolitan, this news was announced by Mark Zuckerberg himself at F8, Facebook’s annual developer conference, earlier this week. Facebook Dating consist of a separate profile linked to your Facebook account where you’ll be able to browse through potential matches, much like on other dating platforms.
Thankfully, nobody you’re already connected with on your Facebook account will appear on your dating profile, saving you that mild, mutual awkwardness that inevitably occurs when you match with someone online who you actually know IRL. Only text conversations are set to be permitted through Facebook Dating at the moment, so the likelihood of unsolicited pictures is also at an all-time low. At the moment it’s unclear as to how Facebook will determine who to match you with but we imagine that the usual location and age filters will apply.
