As someone who uses a jade roller religiously as part of my night routine, I’ve come to realize the importance of understanding how to use the beauty tool, although at first glance it may seem pretty easy and straightforward. While I have been naturally exposed to the idea of face rolling as I was raised in China where these tools have been around since the 17th century, I only began to understand the effects of face rolling with the global rise of interest in skincare over the recent years.

Although this may seem like an obvious tip, it’s one of the most important ones listed here. Massaging will help with absorbing not only serums and oils but also any dirt left on the skin, or on the roller. Make sure to cleanse thoroughly before each session.
Pop your roller (or spoon) in the fridge for an added cooling achieve.
While stones like jade and rose quartz are naturally cold, if you’re looking to depuff the face in the morning you can leave your roller in the fridge overnight. The cold temperature will not only help with shrinking the blood vessels beneath your skin, but will wake you up in the morning. According to Angela Caglia, if you haven’t been able to get your hands on a face roller, it can be easily replaced with a spoon left in the freezer for 2-3 minutes as well. “Lightly tap it under your eye and bring it below your ear where your lymph nodes are. This helps with fluid retention, taking away the puffiness and stimulating blood circulation.”
You can use rollers for other parts of your body.
Your body is just as important as your face and neck. For a nightly routine, you can start off by rolling from your chest and work your way to the neck and finally, your face. Although there is no correct way to use the rollers, it is typically recommended to massage in an upward motion for an added lifting effect.
Make sure to use the same amount of strength and time to both sides.
After massaging one side of the face, it’s important to do the same to the other side. Key areas to massage on the face include the jawline, brows, forehead, cheeks and under the eyes.
