Doja Cat's Sophomore Album, 'Hot Pink,' Is Here
Infused with a heavy dose of ’90s R&B.
After releasing new single “Rules” and its accompanying music video, Doja Cat Raskullz Cat Helmet, Hot Pink. The 12-track project features previously released favorites “Juicy” and “Bottom Bitch,” as well as a bevy of danceable new raps.
The rapper went viral last year after releasing “Mooo!,” a single and music video in which she dresses in a cow outfit and eulogizes the animal. Subsequent singles “Tia Tamera” and “Juicy” found similar success. Despite the “sophomore slump” phenomenon, Hot Pink doesn’t disappoint. Lil’ Kim‘s influence is clear throughout the fast-talking album, which solidifies Doja Cat as one of hip-hop’s top female contenders. Collaborators include Smino and Gucci Mane on tracks “Bite” and “Like That” respectively. Of the album’s title, Doja Cat said she wanted listeners to feel the warmth and passion the shade evokes. “It’s my favorite color and has been for my whole life,” she told Exclaim! last month.
