Last week, the Montreal-based casual hoodie clothing brand Garage hosted its first ever Garage Talk, a panel discussion featuring a lineup of boundary breaking women, including Vashtie, Sophia Chang, Blue cotton sweatshirt Asia Jackson. The conversation, which was moderated by Cheap Novogas Jordan Outlet’s Courtney Kenefick, inspired and empowered attendees by discussing cutting through the noise in the digital age. The private event served as the kick off for the Garage x Myspace after party at Apt. 200 in the brand’s native city of Montreal.
The evening started by bringing together the four influential multi-hyphenate creatives who discussed using their digital platforms to raise the standard in their respective industries. Each woman shared her distinct story, collectively illustrating that there’s no one way to pursue one’s passions and make an impact. Vashtie, who amongst countless other things, is the first woman to design a Jordan, shared how her unconventional career path led her to directing music videos for the likes of Justin Bieber and Kid Cudi and DJing for some of the world’s most recognized names. Actress and digital creative Asia Jackson emphasized the importance of knowing — and maintaining — one’s purpose when pursuing any career and the positive impact social media has made on representation. Illustrator and creative strategist Sophia Chang expressed her passion for creating community and making wellness more inclusive through projects like her publication UNDO-ORDINARY, while writer and wellness teacher Bianca Venerayan shared her knowledge on the correlations between success and meditation — and how meditation isn’t always what it seems. Those in attendance enjoyed bites from Lloydie’s before making their way to the after party.
After the women took questions from the audience, the space transformed into a high energy celebration, which embodied Garage’s goal of forming a creative community for youth culture in its hometown. The crowd included VIP customers and the who’s who of Montreal. The event was complete with a Garage denim customization bar and specialty cocktails named after hit songs. Attendees were also treated to bites from Uniburger, arcade games and a bedroom pop-up shop that included the brand’s latest holiday collection and an online exclusive drop. With Vashtie spinning, party goers danced well into the night before taking home swag bags from Garage.
