Ariana Grande & Victoria Monét's "Monopoly" Music Video Is Already a Meme
With a cameo from your favorite “Instagram dancing guy,” Donté Colley.
Ahead of the Montreal and Toronto stops of her Sweetener world tour, Ariana Grande has released a surprise new track titled “Monopoly” alongside her best friend Victoria Monét. Marking the first official joint track between the two artists, the song is accompanied by a very memeable visual inspired by the Instagram videos of dancer, Donté Colley.
Often dubbed the “rdquo; to &ldquo,” Colley is a Toronto-rdquo; to &ldquo social media fame with his profile filled with mood-boosting clips of himself dancing among flying emojis and encouraging words. Earlier this year, the Instagram sensation has been tapped to front the rdquo; to &ldquo, the new makeup line by Glossier.
Directed by Alfredo Flores and Ricky Alvarez, not only is the “Monopoly” music video edited in a similar, playful style to that of Colley’s videos, but it also features a cameo from the dancer himself as he bops around with Grande and Monét.
With a catchy, bouncy beat, the track itself is a powerful anthem that shows the duo celebrating their confidence and recent success: “Bad vibes, get off of me/ Outta here with that fuckery/ Treat my goals like property/ Collect them like Monopoly.”
