Glossier Confirms Sustainable Packaging Options Will Be Available Soon
Following backlash from concerned customers.
The internet’s favorite beauty brand Glossier launched its latest product – Bubblewrap – yesterday, however the release was clouded by backlash from its discerning fanbase who have concerns over sustainability in the industry. The dual eye and lip cream is named after Glossier’s signature millennial pink pouches that come free with each purchase of products online and in-store.
Callouts by customers and the unofficial beauty industry watchdog Estée Laundry to make the multi-purpose pouches, sticker sheets and excess packaging optional are finally being heard, it seems. Glossier took to Instagram to confirm its plans to rethink its approach to packaging, replying to comments with the following message:
“Sustainability is becoming a larger priority for us as a company, and we are excited to announce you’ll be able to choose a limited packaging option without a pink pouch, stickers, or any packaging extras in online orders starting this summer. At this time, Offline Editors at our retail locations in NYC, LA and Miami can assist you with recycling your pink pouch. Stay tuned for more details!”
The move towards more eco-friendly options for shoppers has been a long time coming, but is a welcome update nonetheless. Stay tuned for updates and in the meantime, check out launched its latest product &ndash.
