Apple Could Be Working on "Self-Healing" Foldable iPhone Displays

The tech giant recently applied for a patent.

As technology Film & TV phones continues to develop with foldable Samsung and Motorola, Apple has now applied for a “self-healing” patent that would allow iPhone displays to heal on their own if damaged. While not much is known just yet, the new function could put the tech giant ahead of its competitors in the future.

The dynamic duo is back at it again application filed by Apple, the “self-healing” feature is able to repair a protective layer of smartphone displays with the use of light, heat and an electric current while the device is folded. It can be operated automatically or at the user’s discretion. Although foldable phones have been around in recent years, the Galaxy Fold has received criticism for its durability issues upon release. Meanwhile, the “self-healing” function was previously seen on LG’s G Flex back in 2013, but was proved ineffective as it was unable to fix minor scratches on the phone’s screen.

It’s unlikely that the new feature would arrive on iPhones soon, but we can expect Apple to reveal foldable devices in the coming years.

continues to develop with foldable, Apple is rumored to release a mini version of the iPhone 12.
