Bong Joon Ho’s ‘Parasite’ becomes the first-ever foreign film to win “Best Picture.”
The 92nd Academy Awards, Hollywood’s biggest night of the year, took place tonight at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. Going hostless for the second year in a row, Janelle Monáe opened the award show performing an original number calling out the films that weren’t nominated this year.
Joaquin Phoenix took home the award for “Lead Actor” for his role in Joker, followed by Renee Zellweger of Judy as this year’s “Lead Actress.” Bong Joon Ho made film history by becoming the first South Korean to win “Best Director” at the Oscars and the first-ever foreign film to win the night’s highly-anticipated award of “Best Picture.” Additionally, Parasite also won “Best International Feature Film” and “Best Original Screenplay.”
