Here's When To Catch the Biggest, Brightest Supermoon of 2020
April’s “pink moon” is going to be the brightest one of the year.
Gary Hershorn/Getty Images CNN, “supermoons occur when the moon is within 90 percent of perigee – which is its closest approach to Earth in orbit.” Reports state that April’s full moon, also known as the “pink moon,” is going to be the closest and biggest of 2020.
According to Earth Sky, people all over the world should be able to witness the supermoon at its brightest from 10:35 p.m. EST until midnight, as well as the early morning hours of April 8. Despite its alternative name, the moon won’t look pink. Instead, it might “appear more golden as it rises above the horizon.” NASA explains that the effect of its color is caused by the Earth’s atmosphere.
