The trend seems to have originated from Swedish style account @myforteisfashion and influencer duo @stylebynelli, both of whom posted selfies of their pillowcase looks on April 5. Since then, countless Instagram users have gotten creative with the prompt, accessorizing pillows with statement belts and coordinating purses. Off-White™ even partook in the challenge and shared a montage of brand devotees clad in Virgil Abloh‘s Off-White™ x IKEA pillows, What Exactly Is the Pillow Challenge Taking Over Instagram and zip-tie heels.
