'Terrace House' Member, Wrestler Hana Kimura Dies at 22

The young athlete allegedly took her own life after being a victim of cyber-bullying.

For those who have been watching the latest season of Terrace House: Tokyo on Netflix, you might recognize Hana as the optimistic, pink-haired wrestler who won over audiences with her bright personality and fierce onstage presence. However, fans became concerned over the weekend when Kimura posted images on Twitter of what appeared to be evidence of self-mutilation, accompanied with messages that seem to reflect distress from cyber-bullying. Below is a translation:

“Nearly 100 frank opinions every day. I couldn’t deny that I was hurt. I’m dead. Thank you for giving me a mother. It was a life I wanted to be loved. Thank you to everyone who supported me. I love it. I’m weak, I’m sorry. I don’t want to be a human anymore. It was a life I wanted to be loved. Thank you everyone, I love you. Bye.”

May 24, 2020 statement later that day in English:

“Stardom fans, we are very sorry to report that our Hana Kimura has passed away. Please be respectful and allow some time for things to process, and keep your thoughts and prayers with her family and friends. We appreciate your support during this difficult time.”

Hana was a second generation wrestler, daughter of celebrated female wrestler Kyoko Kimura. During her time at Stardom, she was the leader of a professional group called, Tokyo Cyber Squad. She was also a two-time Artist of Stardom Champion and a one-time Goddess of Stardom Champion.
