This year’s theme was supposed to be “About Time: Fashion and Duration” – the same name as the museum’s 150th-anniversary exhibit scheduled for this coming October. According to Vogue, the museum issued a statement saying that it decided to completely cancel this year’s large-scale cultural gathering “due to the global health crisis.” However, the art institution plans to reopen for visitors this coming August, but tours, talks, concerts and events will not be taking place for the rest of the year due to the city’s social distancing guidelines.
