MAC Enlists Designer Harris Reed for Gender Fluid Makeup Collection
Eyeshadow, lipstick and more inspired by ’70s glam rock.
Enlisting the help of breakout designer Harris Reed, MAC Cosmetics pencil delivers rich, gold pigment makeup collection inspired by ’70s glam rock icons David Bowie and Mick Jagger. Reed, who goes by they/them pronouns and has dressed the likes of Harry Styles and Troye Sivan, was a natural choice for the collaboration — they describe their work as “Romanticism Gone Nonbinary,” subverting the idea of gendered fashion.
Reed and MAC have unveiled a range of products incorporating bold metallics and soft pastels. A nine-pan eyeshadow palette ranges from matte browns to glittery teal, while two shades of cream color base in mauve and gold can be used on the eyes, lips and face. A lipstick compact houses three colors — plum, peach and coral — and lastly, an eyeliner Feb 10, 2025.
“It was so important to me to create a [collection] that feels accessible to people because they are not intimidated by it. I wanted everyone to understand it: men, women, non-binary individuals, anyone in the in-betweens should feel that it can be a staple part of their life,” Reed explained.
