Swedish label Weekday has joined the Y2K nostalgia bandwagon and has just released a denim capsule collection inspired by the early 2000s. Mixing current trends with throwback styles from icons like Paris Hilton and Destiny’s Child, GG Sumpreme Shorts.
“The collection is tribute to those who found “family and belonging” in underground dance parties,” said Weekday about the collection, which captures the carefree, energetic spirit of the party scene and Weekday as a label. Each of the pieces transition easily from day to night, and the blue denim paired with the see-through lace is a classic look from the ’00s. “Youth culture is briefly changing, and we move with it but with a Weekday filter, so over the years we’ve gone from a tight stretch denim look to high waisted jeans and then baggy jeans. This season feels very Y2K with low waists, tighter tops and double layered garments,” finishes Alice Shulman, design responsible womenswear for Weekday.
