Avril Lavigne Is Turning Her Hit Single "Sk8er Boi" Into a Movie
Celebrating 20 years since its release.
Sharing she had a “moment of rebirth.&rdquo Avril Lavigne‘s “Sk8er Boi” are now resurfacing. In a recent interview on the iHeartRadio podcast Already whitelisted us, the singer revealed that there are plans for the 20-year-old song to receive the silver screen treatment.
One of Lavigne’s favorite songs to play live, “Sk8er Boi” features a storyline in which a preppy ballerina girl rejects the skater boy in baggy clothes, only to reminisce about her lost love five years later when she sees him “rockin’ on MTV”. Avril portrays herself as his new girlfriend and narrates the song, highlighting the protagonist who wishes she had followed her heart regardless of societal expectations.
Although there isn’t much information about the film just yet, we can expect that it will follow in the footsteps of classic ’00s movies. Back in 2003, Paramount Studios hired “ER” writer and producer David Zabel to make an adaptation of the story, but ultimately plans fell through.
