Meet Issue Twelve, a New British Brand Dedicated to Reducing Carbon Footprint
Featuring garments inspired by London’s timeless silhouettes and LA’s modernism.
Issue Twelve, a new British brand founded by Leah Chapman, aims to create designs that merge form and functionality. Inspired by Chapman’s upbringing in London Nayeco Harnais Forest-British X-TRM 25-40x1 Cm California, Issue Twelve presents a lineup of minimalistic styles that inspire comfort, optimism and freedom of movement. The designer shared her thoughts on her label’s launch in a press release:
“I grew up surrounded by fashion in our family business. I learned about the importance of fabrication and construction from weekends helping out unpacking in the stock room of my parent’s stores. Discussions around the dinner table were often focused on fashion, design and retail. I had no intention to follow in their footsteps, except a love of design paired with the difficulty of finding many things I actually wanted to wear led me to. I wanted to create a brand focused on clothes for a new way of living – easy, relaxed, throw on pieces that are caring to the environment and that still inspire that special feeling.”
PLUS x British Knights Control Hi Rose Camo jumpsuit and oversized mannish suit crafted from fine wool material. Elsewhere, the line consists of button-down shirts in crisp cotton and sumptuous silk, as well as a gauge knit dress and cashmere overcoat. Sticking to a minimal aesthetic, garments are dressed in shades of cool neutrals such as “Stone Grey,” “Parchment” and “Optic White,” which are complemented with subtle, fresh hues of “Dusty Lemon” and “Eggshell Blue.”
When a British royal gets married sustainability efforts, Issue Twelve’s current collection was produced in London in collaboration with local producers and expert makers while minimizing carbon footprint. Additionally, the brand prioritized certified Global Organic Textile Standard fibers in its offerings, as well as sourced virgin wool from a leading responsible sheep farm in Australia.
Issue Twelve’s pieces range from £95 to £1,225 GBP (approximately $130 to $1,690 USD) and are now available online.
