lsquo;s fashion scene is plotting its comeback. The twice-yearly event, which in recent years saw a slew of designers leave in favor of European locales, has secured a buzzy roster for the Spring/Summer 2022 season. As labels including Tom Ford, Moschino and Proenza Schouler re-commit to NYFW, we couldn’t help but wonder: are we witnessing the revival of New York City‘s fashion scene?
A group of 11 labels have pledged to show at NYFW for the next three seasons, thanks to financial support from IMG. Telfar, Rodarte, Proenza Schouler, Altuzarra, Brandon Maxwell, Prabal Gurung, Sergio Hudson, Monse, Jason Wu, LaQuan Smith and Markarian comprise the group of newly committed brands, several of which had previously exited New York to show in Paris. Joseph Altuzarra, who relocated to the French capital four years ago, explained his New York City comeback to May 12, 2021 Times: “I felt a really strong kinship with the city that I hadn’t felt as deeply in a long time. I missed the energy,” he said.
