Airbnb Accepting Applications To Live In This Sicilian Home Rent-Free, for a Year
A special project to help boost tourism.
Airbnb is on the search for one person to move to its beautiful restored Sicilian home to live rent-free for a year.
The company will be selecting one person and their partner, friend or family to move to Sicily, where they will reside and host on Airbnb. The winner will live in a contemporary space designed by architectural firm Studio Didea, which arrives as part of a larger campaign project dubbed “1 Euro House” that aims to boost tourism.
“The beauty of this campaign is that it gives a second chance not just to an abandoned heritage home in the heart of our village — it’s also a second chance to the person who moves into it,” Leonardo Ciaccio, Mayor of Sambuca di Sicilia, shared in a press release. “We’re looking for someone who wants to live with the local population and participate in all the important moments of the community, from the grape harvest to olive picking and we can’t wait to welcome whoever gets selected.”
Anyone who is over 18, speaks English and is available to move to Sambuca for at least three consecutive months from June 30 is eligible to apply. Head over to Airbnb’s website for more information.
