Fans Comment on 'W Magazine's David Bowie Cover Starring Zendaya, Willow Smith, Kiernan Shipka
Calling the publication’s latest project “cringe.”
W Magazine recently released a cover of David Bowie‘s “Changes” featuring Zendaya, Willow Smith and Kiernan Shipka. The trio started with good intentions, as the rendition was in honor of the star’s 75th birthday. However, Bowie’s diehard fans found its execution to be less than stellar.
Take a closer look at the co-branded bags, bucket hats and more W Magazine‘s Instagram page, the celebrities can be seen half-reading, half-singing the lyrics to the song, each of them supposedly looking down at a script. Fans were enraged with their lack of knowledge concerning the classic, with comments such as “I hate how they’re reading it,” “Where is the unsee button?” and “This is so insulting to David Bowie, on his birthday of all days.”
On a positive note, there were a few followers who were delighted with their tribute to the late singer, with one commenting: “Love these girls,” and another adding: “Love this ode to a legend!” The “Sorrow” singer died in 2016 after a long battle with cancer.
