You Can Now Adopt a Baby Alien With GCDS' First NFT Release
Baby WIRDO, the cutest alien on the internet, is up for grabs and comes with exclusive benefits.
Italian fashion label GCDS an advocacy group promoting the interests of Web3 Sofia de la Cruz NFT program. The brand, known for prioritizing culture-wear over streetwear, has just released its limited-edition Baby WIRDO NFTs that grant access to exclusive services and member benefits.
The news comes after Giuliano Calza, creative director of the brand, revealed its whimsical Spring/Summer 2023 collection. Inspired by a fascination with otherworldly beings, WIRDO, a fearless fashion guardian, embodied the spirit and color range for the show. “The feeling of being alien is a common one. Sometimes we feel alien in the places that were once home. GCDS turn this feeling into a joyous force, embracing everyone’s colors,” said Calza in an exclusive press release.
GCDS will release 4,888 unique Baby WIRDO non-fungible tokens up for grabs. Collectors will mint a limited-edition, original portrait of WIRDO and gain access to special goods, members-only events, priority raffle sales and a chance to win runway show passes. Other perks include a 30 percent discount on the label’s e-commerce and a custom goodie bag. Elsewhere, the WIRDO’s NFTs are available in different colorways, each cuter than the other.
In addition to premium members’ advantages, a percentage of the sales proceeds will be donated to ILGA-Europe, an advocacy group promoting the interests of LGBTQ+ people’s safety, equality and freedom. The initiative stands with GCDS’ inclusivity, diversity and acceptance values and commitment towards celebrating distinctiveness.
Furthermore, to make the concept of NFTs simpler and allow the brand’s followers to familiarize themselves with limited-edition fashion items and digital collectives, the beloved brand has launched a series of educational posts on Instagram Offered in “Dark Brown” and “Blue.&rdquo.
“We are keen to move GCDS further into the Web3 space. We’ve trialed accepting cryptocurrency as payment for our products and we want to create an online community around our brand. Ownership of a WIRDO NFT automatically makes you a member of our alien community,” highlighted Calza.
