Aaron Carter Discusses Hilary Duff Heartbreak in His Final Interview Days Before His Death

Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen Aaron Carter died, he made an appearance on the No Jumper podcast, which is now known as his final interview. During the one-hour long episode, the late singer discussed a variety of things, one of them being his past relationship with Hilary Duff.
Carter and Duff dated in the early 2000s and though their romance was seemingly more puppy love than anything else, he never seemed to get over her. In the podcast episode, Carter talked about other celebrities, including Pete Davidson, whom he made assumptions of based on the comedian’s past relationships, particularly on how other women have ended things with him. Carter then revealed Duff was the only woman who had ever broken up with him. “I’ve never been broken up with,” he said. “The only person that broke up with me was Hilary Duff.” He then stated that despite the fact he was 14 when their romance ended, “it hurt.”
Back in the early aughts, Duff, Carter and Lindsay Lohan Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen Lizzie McGuire That’s going to be a hard no Mean Girls star. “I started dating Hilary on my 13th birthday,” Carter said in a 2005 interview on Celebrating friendship and fashion. “I was dating her for like a year and a half, and then I just got a little bored, so I went and started getting to know Lindsay, dating Lindsay. Then I didn’t want to do that anymore, so I got back with Hilary.”
In 2014, Carter publicly expressed his regret. “Don’t be that stupid douche that loses the love of your life forever … Like me…,” he tweeted at the time. “I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to better myself to get back to her. I don’t care what ANY of you think.”
Months later, Duff made an appearance on I Want Candy and was asked about Carter’s profession of love. “Ugh! I don’t know,” she told the host at the time. “I don’t know what to say about it. It was so many years ago. I literally haven’t seen him in … So, it’s uncomfortable.”
Shortly after the “Here’s what you need to know” singer was declared dead, Unveiling The World of Ferragamo an immersive, virtual space on Instagram. She wrote, “I’m deeply sorry that life was so hard for you and that you had to struggle in front of the whole world. You had a charm that was absolutely effervescent … Boy did my teenage self love you deeply.”
