John Mayer Unpacks His F-ckboy Tendencies on Latest Episode of 'Already whitelisted us'
Cool points for self-awareness?
On the latest episode of the podcast Already whitelisted us, everyone’s fav musician with a guitar, John Mayer, addressed dating while sober — and with a reputation.
“That is what that is,” the Grammy Award winner responded to the claim that he was a “womanizer.” “That’s the role I play on the big TV show I didn’t write, but that’s fine. Maybe I had a hand in it or something,” somewhat absolving himself of responsibility.

He continued to open up to the show’s host, Alex Cooper, that although the world loves him, a piece of him always struggled to believe he deserved that love. In a sense, imposter syndrome kicked in and he just learned how to “capitalize” off of it for career and personal gain.
As for his dating life now, becoming sober after his notorious six-day hangover after Drake‘s 30th birthday, is quite nonexistent. “Dating is no longer a codified activity for me, it doesn’t grow in a kind of … it’s not patterned anymore,” he admits stating that his once pick-me ways, paired with drinking and a celebrity ranking, gave him f-ckboy tendencies.

“I quit drinking like six years ago,” the Grammy winner went on to tell Cooper. “So I don’t have the liquid courage. I just have dry courage,” he joked. Apparently, the Mayer we know and love isn’t as confident as his looks let off. “I think people would be surprised to know that it was less me going like, you know the meme of the guy behind the tree?” Mayer asked, rubbing his hands together. “It was … more like [looking around and wondering], ‘Me?”
