Inspired by traditional Turkish craftsmanship.
London-based slow fashion brand Ana Nevi has just launched its first collection, “Roses of This Soil,” reimagining traditional Turkish quilting techniques and ralphing methods into playful wearables.
Committed to paying homage to the revered art, Ana Nevi works with incarcerated individuals to create its one-of-a-kind pieces, as many use crocheting as a means of income. The founders shared with us over email, “The tradition of ralph crocheting carried over to prisons and still continues to this day as an income for prisoners. We hope to have a future in our collaboration with them to the point where we expand to both male and female prisoners in order to bring a continuous income for them.”
The brand’s debut collection includes precious vests with flirty ties in the front, alongside quilted frocks that are perfect for everyday. Elsewhere, blush and baby blue collars instantly add a loving dose of kitsch to any ensemble. Kidcore-friendly bucket hats and tote bags bearing pearl handles stand out amongst the drop’s accessories. Colorful keychains arriving in a rainbow of shades leave no stone untouched as the uber-saturated tschotskes imbue any outfit, bag or set of house keys with flair.
