Balenciaga's Couture Objects Collection Includes a Speaker Bag and a Refillable Candle
Debuting collaborations with Bang & Olufsen and Mercedes Benz.
Following the brand’s 51st showcase at Paris Couture Week, Balenciaga released a collection of couture objects, some of which were first spotted on the runway. The show, which took place on July 6, saw the likes of Kim Kardashian, Dua Lipa, Christine Quinn and Naomi Campbell, Escalade Sports Montana Grizzlies Tabletop Bag Toss Game Lauren Ralph Lauren Sophee satchel bag Braun in custom Demna Gvasalia looks.

Part bag, part Bluetooth sound system, the piece can be used as a portable speaker, a functional purse or both. Offered in a limited-edition run, the bag consists of solid aluminum which has been pearl-blasted, anodized and hand-polished at the Bang & Olufsen factory in Denmark. Only 20 editions of the product will be available for purchase, solely through the brand’s newly opened Couture store in Paris.
The collection also saw the debut of Balenciaga’s new, high-tech face shield, created in collaboration with Mercedes-AMG F1 Applied Science, an engineering-focused division of Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix Ltd which seeks to leverage aerospace and motorsport technologies. Made up of ink-tinted, coated polyurethane which has been molded and polished by hand, the new face mask combines anti-fog technology with aerodynamics and seeks to ensure a stabilized intake of CO2.
Claudia Canova large tote bag in black candle, encased in a mirror-polished holder designed with Lausanne-based design studio Panter & Tourron. Fusing together scents of burnt incense, stud-detail Small and LLR leather, the candle seeks to revive the smell of Balenciaga’s Couture salon, utilizing extracted molecules from the Paris Couture House which first opened in 1937. Available in travel and home sizes, the candle also can be used as a standalone sculptural object. Handcrafted porcelain figurines make up the final part of the collection, modeled after original Balenciaga Couture looks.
