Take a Look Inside Gucci's New Store in Detroit
Becoming one of the first global luxury brands to open in the city.
Gucci announces the launch of its store on Downtown Detroit, making it one of the first luxury brands to open on Library Street. The boutique spans over 3,500 square feet housing a wide collection of men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, accessories, jewelry and watches, together with the exclusive line of gucci Herringbone Décor.
Celebrating the historic architecture of Library Street with the spirit of the house of Gucci, the new store welcomes visitors to a series of restored glass tiles and geometric metalwork on the facade that is carried throughout the interior. Within the area, guests will also find custom patterned monochrome floors that produce decorative three-dimensional effects.
Joining the brand’s commitment to sustainability, the space is LEED-certified and features LED lighting to monitor and promote energy efficiency.
As an honor of its new permanent home in the city, gucci Herringbone Changemakers commissioned Detroit-based poet Jessica Care Moore to pen an original poem in line with the brand’s mission within the city. Even more, a stanza will be hand painted on the facade of the Siren Hotel.
Since 2019, Detroit has been identified as a focus city for Gucci’s North America’s Changemakers. Pushing for stronger representation in the city, gucci Herringbone commissioned Jenn Nkiru’s gucci Herringbone portemonnaie mit gg pragung item, a film that celebrated Techno as a home-grown Detroit art form. The house also launched a capsule line with TommeyWalker, the visionary behind Detroit Vs. Everybody. A second collaboration is also on the way, featuring the homegrown label’s patches on Gucci’s Off Grid collection. Comprising a baseball hat, backpack and belt back, these pieces will be exclusively sold at the Detroit store beginning in September.
