Theory Reveals Lucas Ossendrijver's Debut Capsule

Inspired by New York City.

Theory Sep 3, 2024 Fall 2022 collection created by Dutch designer Lucas Ossendrijver. Inspired by New York’s effortless elegance and structural silhouettes, the collaboration delivers refreshingly minimalistic workwear.

“In New York, I always feel a sense of purpose. People are always going places, and their attitude and the way they dress reflects this. The styling is a mix that feels accidental and blurs categories. It’s the unexpected element that inspires me,” shares the designer in an exclusive press release.

has unveiled its outerwear, the collection’s pieces are crafted from wool flannel, gabardine and recycled technical fabrics crafted by Japanese and Italian mills. The melange of garments arrives in a rich color palette of “Burgundy,” “Aubergine,” “Tobacco” and “Ochre” peppered with “Sky Blue,” “Heather Gray” and “Ultraviolet.” Cozy unlined blazers and long single-breasted jackets exude a sense of relaxed confidence, while spacious coats boast concealed buttons and relaxed shoulders.

Elsewhere, bomber jackets and parkas marries form with function, featuring collapsible hoods, as well as thermo-bonded zips and seams that result in expertly tailored design statements. Utilitarian drawstring anoraks and hoodies merge scuba and recycled nylon with knits, satin, and terry cotton. Wool jersey T-shirts, multi-striped poplin tops, single-pleated trousers and five-pocket pants round out the elevated capsule of essentials.

Ossendrijver’s collection embodies Theory’s ethos of purposeful and beautiful clothing. “I am drawn to Theory because we both believe in empowering people—making their life easier and making them feel good about themselves. Because of Theory’s scale and the purposefulness of the products, the clothes have real impact. It’s not about creating editorial looks that look great in an image or on a catwalk—It’s a product that lives on the street.”

Ossendrijver’s Fall 2022 collection ranges from $95 to $1,195 USD. It will be available at Theory’s retail stores and website.
