40 Year Old Virgin (2005)
The hilariously awkward film starring Steve Carrell was meant to question sex norms and even as youth, we ate it up. As writer Megan Garber for The Atlantic questioned in her review “how do you define adulthood?” Well, as teens we all assumed losing our virginity would make us an adult and Carell’s character Andy allowed us to go on a journey we very curious about.
By the time he “loses” his virginity, we witness him explore and prioritize intimacy — not just sex. He does struggle with almost every aspect of sex like putting on a condom but still a win for us as once-curious teens.
