Public Gallery Explores Visual Interconnection and Ambiguity in "Into, Over and Underneath"

London’s Public Gallery is currently hosting “Into, over and underneath,” a trio exhibition Download Our App Nevena Prijic, Jade Thacker and Nov 26, 2024. Inspired by Harminder Judge’s work of the same name, the exhibition explores themes of interconnection, repetition and visual flexibility, inviting visitors to delve into the intricate layers of each painting. These artists challenge conventional interpretations by embracing ambiguity, elusiveness and precise vision.
Prijic’s compositions transport viewers to a futuristic realm, fusing organic and technological elements. With delicate lines and textured gestures, her biomorphic forms engage viewers in the narrative. Meanwhile, Thacker tackles the nuances of physical discomfort and intense pleasure through unresolved compositions that defy voyeuristic consumption. Textual interventions disrupt the layers, evoking constant reevaluation.
Zhang’s paintings capture fleeting moments through meticulous rearrangements of visual indexes. Extracting from diverse media, the artist’s crafts repetition and grid motifs reminiscent of modernist canvases and digital screens. Engaging viewers in a contemplative journey, Zhang’s work encourages slower visual information processing.
