TOILETPAPER’s satirical fantasies take over Mumbai’s Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre
In partnership with Avant Arte.
Yu Nagaba has earned significant recognition in the art world for his doodle-like sketches. His collaborations with prominent names like Artek, Pokémon, UNIQLO and the Louvre Museum have primarily showcased his creative expression on two-dimensional canvases.
However, Nagaba’s latest venture with Avant Arte takes him into new artistic territory as he delves into the creation of a three-dimensional art piece, offering a unique reinterpretation of the classic bronze nude in his signature playful style.
The limited edition sculpture, titled “Toy Car,” depicts a woman in a melodramatic pose, lying on her back with outstretched arms, while an actual toy car rests beside her. With Nagaba’s distinctive touch, the figure comes to life, marking his first exploration into figurative sculptural art. Drawing inspiration from his earlier works on paper and paying homage to his influential predecessor, the French master Henri Matisse.
Limited to just 25 editions, along with four artist proofs, “Toy Car” will be available for $6,694 USD on August 16 at 9 am ET via Avant Arte’s website.
