Gen Z Struggles With Priscilla Presley’s Story: “He Respected the Fact I Was Only 14 Years Old”
Opening a discussion on grooming.
Gen Z is no stranger to the story of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, however, the film‘s premiere at the Ask a Sexpert, raised a major red flag.
“It was very difficult for my parents to understand that Elvis would be so interested in me and why,” Priscilla recounted. “Even though I was 14, I was actually a little bit older in life — not in numbers. That was the attraction. People think, ‘Oh, it was sex.’ No, it wasn’t. I never had sex with him. He was very kind, very soft, very loving, but he also respected the fact I was only 14 years old. We were more in line in thought, and that was our relationship.”
The news made it to social media and social media users, specifically Gen Zers, did not take her commentary lightly. “It’s entirely possible for two truths to exist at once: 1) Elvis was a creep who went after a 14-year-old at 24 and 2) Priscilla herself doesn’t consider herself a pillage, at least publicly.” Another wrote, “No. No. NO… an adult who respects a 14-year-old would never DREAM of pursuing them.”
Elvis’ camp was not happy with the film either, and as a result, denied the usage of his music for the film. Filmmaker, Sofia Coppola however, has made it clear that this film is not for Elvis Stans, it’s a “sympathetic tribute,” to Priscilla.
