Vivienne Westwood Captures the "Sun" Collection in Mumbai
Teaming up with local artist and creative director, Kshitij Kankaria.
Vivienne Westwood just announced its 2024 Sun Collection, drawing inspiration from the palettes of painters along with metallic materials and vintage-inspired silhouettes. To celebrate the new release, the iconic label has teamed up with local artist and creative director Kshitij Kankaria, Featuring the first Palace womenswear since Palucci.
Aiming to showcase the vitality and vibrancy of the city, the campaign sees Kankaria leaning into the identity of India. “When I dwelled into Vivienne Westwood’s vision as a brand and the principles behind their imagery, I immediately got reminded of the bustling quality of Mumbai’s streets,” he says of his inspiration.
Capturing the people and places who have inspired him over the years, the director adds, “Most of the subjects are my friends with whom I spend my time in India. They are brilliant creatives in their own right — each with a personal style that stands out.”
Featuring a fusion of heritage details and contemporary elements, the campaign desires to merge modernity with an old-school charm, a combination that feels very authentic in Mumbai.
