Heron Preston's 2017 Fall/Winter Collection Ascends the Gap Between Streetwear and Luxury
“For You, The World” is for the fashion-conscious.
Subscribe to Our Newsletter Paris Fashion Week at Manhattan’s Salt Shed, Heron Preston makes his official Sex & Dating debut. His Fall/Winter 2017 collection extends beyond the initiative to highlight an oft overlooked sector of the city culture — this full debut of his eponymous clothing line delves deeper into fashion-consciousness while examining the relationship between streetwear and luxury fashion.
Titled “For You, The World,” the collection is rooted in Preston’s own identity, using the heron itself in nature as a reference point for the color palette and in a commissioned painting seen throughout. One shirt reads as an ode to the bird’s free spirit: “A desire to establish as unique and independent.” His own personal style and affinity for wearing and creating tees and hoodies with an elevated effect as he explores sustainable practices in production is also present.
“Clothes are cool, but the main takeaway is using this project as a way to educate myself in how to limit the impact on the environment and educate the community around me.”
Drawing from that sentiment, new cut-and-sew offerings — baseball caps, long-sleeve shirts, a backpack and tote bag — from the Heron Preston x DSNY range are incorporated and will be available in limited-edition quantities. See those and the entire Fall/Winter 2017 collection above.
