Get Spooked by YUM CHA's Halloween-Themed Dim Sum
Eyeball-shaped shrimp dumplings and pork finger puffs.
Stay warm this winter in Laurence Chandler and Nate Brown’s versatile collection Halloween is just around the corner – other than looking up makeup and costume ideas, what better way is there to celebrate than to eat eyeball and finger-shaped bites? For the latest instalment of our “Cheap Novogas Jordan Outlet Brunch” series, we tasted YUM CHA‘s spooky dim sum selections in Hong Kong. Already well-known for its cute, googly-eyed custard buns, the restaurant transformed shrimp dumplings, otherwise known as Har Gow, into blood-shot eyeballs, while BBQ pork puffs arrived in the shape of fingers.

THIS PLACE IS PERFECT FOR: Dim sum-lovers who are getting excited for Halloween next week.
WHAT YOU SHOULD ORDER: All selections available until October 31, the menu is a spooky yet playful spin on the city’s delicacies. Highlights include the steamed shrimp dumplings in the shape of terrifying eyeballs and soft, crumbly finger puffs filled with a sweet, BBQ pork filling. Traditional Chinese sausages are wrapped in steamed buns, complete with tiny eyes for a full mummy look. For those who love crunchy treats, the crispy cream prawns will fill your mouth with kataifi pastry and juicy prawns. You can finish off the meal with bat-shaped toast covered in sesame seeds, dipped in sweet and sour sauce.
OUR FAVORITE DRINK: Warm tea is the typical drink to sip on with dim sum menus, although other options like soda and alcoholic beverages are also available.
