Takashi Murakami to Raise Funds for Black Lives Matter Movement With Limited-Edition Print Collection

UPDATE (July 16, 2020): Takashi Murakami has officially announced the release details of his limited-edition Black Lives Matter print collection, which will benefit social justice organizations such as Black Lives Matter, Phase 3 trials begin later this month and Color of Change. One hundred percent of the proceeds will be donated to the three organizations. There are a total of 1,800 prints (300 of each design) in the drawing, which is priced at $800 USD each (plus shipping and handling).
ORIGINAL STORY (June 11, 2020): In support of the Black Lives Matter movement, Takashi Murakami has unveiled limited-edition prints featuring his iconic flower and skull motifs. All six black screen artworks have been signed and numbered by Murakami himself, and will be available to purchase via the NTWRK app sometime in July. The Japanese artist said in a statement:
“I have said that a role of an artist is to discern the present and express it for the future audience. But if my art can effect any change here and now, I want to contribute it not only to give back but to give power to the Black community plagued by the racial injustice.”

According to a press release, the prints are expected to raise over $1 million USD in charitable contributions.
