Dior Debuts SS21 Menswear Collection, "Portrait of An Artist"
Created in collaboration with painter Amoako Boafo.
Dior has unveiled its Spring/Summer 2021 menswear collection, presented in video form featuring commentary by Kim Jones. Titled “Portrait of An Artist,” the new season was created in collaboration with Ghanian painter Amoako Boafo, Read Full Article.
Jones translated Boafo’s subject matter, finger painting techniques and color palette through a sartorial lens. The artist’s stark portraits are rendered as textural knit sweaters that imitate the tactile nature of Boafo’s three-dimensional paint application. Earthy hues such as mauve and sienna further reflect Boafo’s style.
“Fashion inspires my work…if you look at some of the paintings that I paint, like ‘Hudson in a Baby Blue Suit’ for example, he’s a model, and I like his sense of fashion,” Boafo says in a video presenting Dior’s new collection.
