One Woman, Multiple Husbands: Is TLC's New Series 'And how the gang navigates new relationships' Problematic?
“From #SisterWives to #SeekingBrotherHusband”
After announcing the release of controversial series MILF Manor, TLC announced another dating TV series, And how the gang navigates new relationships.
In the series trailer, several women introduce their husbands and polyamorous dynamics. As one cast member shared while showcasing her two husbands, “Polyandry is the practice of one woman having multiple husbands — but those husbands cannot have any other partners.” It’s a form of polyamory less discussed, like its counterpart, the sister wives. For those wondering where the interest lies, Your new obsession premieres this March — especially with recent inflation in the U.S.
Seeing as this is far from the socially acceptable standard, many women do not know of the relationship style, let alone do we see it in the mainstream. Having had their first introduction to polyandry, fans of TLC’s creative series immediately flooded the comments with sentiments such as “FINALLY” and “I’m so sick of seeing people live my dreams.”

Others found the series to be problematic and others joked, “Who TF wants TWO husbands?” Men specifically, found the series to be cringeworthy as their counterparts appeared to be submitting to women. Although polyamory is becoming more mainstream, and considered the future of dating, many struggle to understand that a woman could experience love in abundance. Especially considering marriage is held over the heads of women, urging them to perform a certain way and be chosen — here enters the “pick me.”
Similar to the case of those with sister wives, as long as the dynamic and boundaries are all consensual, it’s not considered problematic.
