Amita Suman Partners With Sotheby’s to Showcase Her Endless Love for Art

Wear your heart on your sleeve Sotheby’s, Suman has delved into her love for arts, which originated as a young girl through admiration for hand-painted murals and sculptures of Hindu Gods. The actress has collaborated on the auction house’s upcoming “Contemporary Curated” auction by selecting a handful of artworks she felt a special connection with.
Suman shared in a press statement: “I would not consider myself an art expert. I just see myself as someone who loves art and appreciates it in all its different forms. In my craft, I create through my body, my mind and my soul to tell a story for an audience. I suppose art is very similar but, to me, it feels more personal and the narrative is more free. An artist may have intended to portray one thing, but the viewer might interpret it in a completely different way – and that’s the beauty of it. You’re always free to draw your own conclusions.”
The exclusive selection of artworks spans contemporary, Impressionism, mixed-media and South East Asian movements and includes artists Andy Warhol, Flora Yukhnovich, Danica Lundy, Banksy, Secundino Hernández, Louise Bourgeois, Francis Alÿs, Diane Arbus, Nan Goldin and Cindy Sherman.
