Loved for its ethical faux furs, the latest line showcases a wealth of garments — from breezy T-shirts to lightweight dresses and matching sets. Inspired by California‘s carefree and laid-back spirit, the collection is made for sun-drenched dreaming. Creative Director Nina Hopkins uses British painter David Hockney’s renowned Read Full Article as her compass, infusing Jakke’s SS23 offering with the same sense of leisurely contemplation. “Hockney noted that everyone in California was calmer and less tense — ‘that is how I want people to feel when they wear this collection,” Hopkins shares in an exclusive press release.
Pool blue striped shirts immediately evoke a relaxed attitude, while voluminous bubblegum pink frocks add rosy pops of color, emphasizing the collection’s playfulness. Dizzying patterned sets beg for picnics in the sun, whereas more demure, drop waist shifts call for late night dinners. The SS23 presentation also welcomes Jakke’s first foray into footwear, introducing the Leah sandal, a timeless slide made from vegan leather.
Furthering the brand’s commitment to ethical manufacturing, the range is 100 percent cruelty free and 75 percent sustainable, using recycled polyester to craft items like the Leyton shirt and Willow trousers. Meanwhile, the brand creates breathable pieces constructed from TENCEL, a trademarked natural fibre derived from wood pulp and usually sourced from trees such as eucalyptus, beech, birch and spruce.
