A new study reveals the riskiest sex position — and its most reported sex injuries.
We’ve all had a sex injury — or two — and if you haven’t, consider yourself lucky. Sex toy brand Arcwave set out to better understand our most embarrassing sex injuries, and turns out one sex position is responsible for most of them.
Unfortunately for all doggy style lovers, this sex position leads to the most injuries, Arcwave revealed. Up next, was every pillow princess’ favorite position: missionary. Lastly, 69 was the third most dangerous.
Whereas some may think older counterparts are most susceptible to sex injuries, it turns out, 25 to 35 years old report the most injuries. “The most common type of sex injury was bumps and bruises,” the brand shared, followed by the highly uncomfortable “carpet burn.” Also reported were “pulled muscles, vaginal tears, back injuries and allergic reactions.”
Keep scrolling for Arcwave’s best tips for avoiding a sex injury:
Hygiene. Hygiene. Hygiene.
“Hygiene is super important when it comes to sex equipment and toys, as infections, such as UTIs and STIs, can spread. Make sure all sex toys, are cleaned thoroughly after each use – either with specific toy cleaner or warm soapy water.”
Lube is your bestie.
“Using lubricant with toys is a must to avoid vaginal tearing and any chafing on the genitals.”
Understand and communicate your limits.
“Know your limits on what types of positions, equipment and toys you feel comfortable with.”
Safe words >
