Titled THINGS!, the vibrant showcase offers an exploration into the shared human experience with inanimate objects through a series of hyper-realistic artwork. With a focus on Korean candy and cool Crocs – as opposed to love notes and family heirlooms – the spotlighted items come together to reflect the hobbies and obsessions of a noticeably contemporary audience, made up of sneakerheads and grail lovers.
For Finlay, the narrative roots back to her love for sneakers which evolved into a hobby of collecting unique models, and later rare art toy pieces such as the chrome Garfield BE@RBRICK. Translating this into the exhibition, she juxtaposes depictions of the grail pieces in her collection with other paintings and illustrations of contemporary icons including M&Ms, fruity Mentos, and a Pepsi x BAPE bottle – playfully animating a world of cravings through eye-catching hues.

While the exhibition officially marks the artist’s latest foray into more finer forms of art, it also incorporates a selection of screen prints that Finlay had developed in the early days of her online brand THINGS. Fusing bold typography with color palettes inspired by basketball teams, the assortment of prints showcases the artist’s diverse creations with a bold and animated edge.
As well as last week’s International Women’s Day activation, Finlay has curated a schedule of events that will take place at the gallery until the exhibition closes, including one-on-one workshops, panel talks, and other art-related activities hosted by the artist.
