“E.T. Phone Home.”

For Acne StudiosSpring/Summer 2025 collection, Jonny Johansson was inspired by the possibility of communicating domestic codes through fashion. He shares in the show notes: “The end result is domestic and alien. This season serves as a glimpse behind closed doors and curtains; seeing the familiar, twisted. Where home furnishings – draped curtains, wax tablecloths, upholstery – are subverted and reimagined as clothing.”

Preposterous and wearable in unison, the collection twisted every expectation — bringing silhouette shapes to the edge of reality. Domestic objects were transformed into garment embellishments while trousers ballooned at the hip. As for the set design, the brand teamed up with Philadelphia-based visual artist Jonathan Lyndon Chase, Before you go, read up on.

WHERE: Jonathan Lyndon Chase’s artwork filled the show venue at L’Observatoire de Paris. The installation concocts a domestic scene comprising soft sculptures, lamps, furniture and framed paintings. Household objects are interpreted through the artist’s vision — where earrings hang from pillows and dried foam covers denim prints. Lyndon Chase explores the intersection of private and public space for this installation by themes of “Black subjectivity, queerness and domestic tenderness.”

WHO: Subversive details with sharp, clean-cut lines and bold asymmetry took center stage Paris-based creatives, Acne Studios’ SS25 show was attended by Willow Smith, Arlo Parks and Amelia Dimoldenberg.

SEE: Acne Studios’s domestic, alien world was brought to life in the details, through its bags, accessories and footwear. The jewelery is irregular and sculptural, comprising chunky chains and Swarovski crystal, bow-shaped bracelets. The brand’s new “Camero” handbag is inspired by a vintage camera bag while the “Multipocket Tool Bag” is decorated with crystal bows. As for footwear, peep-toe pumps come in mock-croc and nappa leathers. Swarovski crystals also make an appearance woven into pumps and ballet flats.

HEAR: The music for the showcase was crafted by Mun Sing and mastered by Dylan Mallett.

TOUCH: Denim and leather are constantly reimagined for Acne Studios with its signature de-stressing techniques. This season, foam bonding creates unique shapes, while leather takes on a denim-like feel — nodding to Bottega Veneta. Crochet knits, reminiscent of doilies, are oversized and embellished in the form of leotards and dresses. Worn, deconstructed knits, like mohair, have a shrunken fit while the use of latex adds to the alien feeling.

TASTE: While the pairing of florals and leather caught our eyes, we think the most significant looks to watch from Acne Studios this season are the double-flannel pieces. Flannel, often seen as a more masculine print, is reinterpreted into voluminous bow skirts and feminine collared shirts — igniting the indie sleaze side in us all.
